Paturia-Daulatdia ferry services halted for 3hrs
Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River remained halted this morning for three hours due to dense fog.
The authorities of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation kept suspended the ferry services and plying of the water vessels on the route from 7:00am to 10:05am due to blurred visibility for dense fog, said Mahiuddin Rasel, manager (Commercial) of BIWTC at Aricha.
Four ferries remained motionless in the middle of the Padma because of the suspension, he said.
Seven ferries with a large number of vehicles and passengers on board lay anchored at Paturia and four ferries at Daulatdia.
Passengers suffered as a good number of vehicles had to be kept waiting on both sides of the river for crossing.
Ferry services on the important route resumed around 10:05 am as fog started disappearing with the sunrise.
