Five-year-old Musa sprays some water on a bucket of roses on the pavement next to the capital’s Manik Mia Avenue yesterday. With the city dwellers celebrating Pahela Falgun and Valentine’s Day, Musa was cashing in on the fervour by selling his roses for Tk 20 each. Photo: Rashed Shumon
Filthy water from nearby dyeing factories and sewage stagnated on Shyampur-Kadamtoli street in the capital due to poor drainage system. Almost the entire street has become unusable. Pedestrians in Rajuk residential area in Shyampur suffer the most as they have to endure the stench. The photo was taken yesterday. Photo: Palash Khan
Pahela Falgun and Valentine’s Day were two of the last occasions that were left untouched by the pandemic in 2020, but with another rotation of the planet, people have landed in a celebration that requires one added accessory: a mask. Many sported face masks in the customary yellow colour of spring, though few remembered to keep it on at all times. The photo was taken yesterday at Chattogram city’s Aambagan area.
