Municipality election: 23 candidates lose deposit in Jashore’s Keshabpur

Twenty-three candidates, including a mayor aspirant of Jashore's Keshabpur municipality election, lost their security deposit as they failed to bag one-eighth of the cast votes.

Among them, one is mayor candidate, five are councillor candidates of reserved women's seats and 17 are councillor candidates, reports our Benapole correspondent.

A total of 54 candidates contested in the election to Keshabpur municipality held on Sunday.

Around 14,649 voters, out of 20,775, exercised their franchise in the election. 

Sources at local election office said a candidate will lose deposit if he/she failed to get one-eighth votes of the total cast.
