Fifth day of ‘Mujib Chirantan’ celebrates Bangabandhu’s perseverance
Celebrating the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence, a ten-day programme, "Mujib Chirantan", began on March 17 at the capital's National Parade Square.
The fifth day of celebrations began with the theme, "Dhongshostupe Jiboner Gaan", commemorating Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's determination to rebuild a war-torn country after independence. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the cultural event.
A virtual discussion session, hosted and inaugurated by Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, featured welcome messages by Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and renowned historian Prof Dr Syed Anwar Husain. Deputy Prime Minister and Jordan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, delivered a video message, on behalf of Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, King of Jordan.
The cultural event started with an orchestral dance performance by Liaoning Cultural Centre's artistes from the People's Republic of China. Arranged by the Chinese Embassy, the performance highlighted the Bangladesh-China friendship.
An animated video on "Mujib Chirantan" was shown at the event, followed by a video and dance performance, "Canvase Bangabandhu'r Share Tin Bochor: Shunno Theke Mohashunne". A special rendition of traditional songs Pala, Jari and Gambhira performed by traditional folk groups, "Bangabandhu'r Nobojiboner Daak: Dhushor Bangla Theke Shobuj Bangla" portrayed Bangabandhu's contribution in starting the 'Green revolution' in Bangladesh, with an aim to build a self-reliant country.
A musical choreography, "Bisshoneta O Bisshonagoriker Melbondhon" featured Bangabandhu's strong friendship with iconic leaders of the world and his contributions in building better and stronger ties with other nations. A theatrical representation of women empowerment, titled, "Nari Jagoron O Narir Khomotayone Bangabandhu," reflected on the lives of iconic female leaders of Bangladesh, along with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's contributions as an iconic female leader in the present world.
A special play directed by Aminur Rahman Mukul, "288 Din", featured Bangabandhu's days in prison during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971. Spondon Band performed several songs at the event.
The event concluded with "Shishu Bikashe Bangabandhu: Alo Amar Alo," a special performance by 100 child artistes. "Amra Nuton Jouboneri Dut", "Purbo Digante Shurjo Utheche", and "Cholo Bangladesh" among other songs, were performed at the rendition, highlighting the hopeful future that the newer generation aims to offer.
