Bangabandhu’s birth centenary, independence golden jubilee celebrations conclude
Celebrating the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence, a ten-day programme, "Mujib Chirantan", began on March 17 at the capital's National Parade Square.
Today marks the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence. Keeping that in mind, the final day of "Mujib Chirantan" began with the theme, 'Shadhinotar Ponchash Bochor O Ogrogotir Shubornorekha'.
On the occasion, renowned vocalist Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty composed a new Raag, named 'Moitree' as a tribute to Bangabandhu. Thematic choreographies, 'Pita Diyeche Shadhin Swadesh, Konnya Diyeche Alo', 'Bindu Theke Shindhu' and an orchestral presentation, 'Bangladesher Gorjon: Aj Shunuk Puro Bisshwo' enthralled the audience.
Honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the discussion session. President Abdul Hamid was present at the event as chief guest. Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi was present as a guest of honour.
Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Chief Coordinator of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee and Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque presented welcome speeches at the event.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid delivered speeches on the day. Respected guests were presented with special tokens of appreciation. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled the official logo of the golden jubilee of independence after her speech.
Written by Zulfiqar Russell and composed by A R Rahman, a special song and musical performance, conceptualised by A R Rahman was presented at the event. Shatabdi Wadud, Tariq Anam Khan, Asaduzzaman Noor, Intekhab Dinar, Sanjida Preeti, Rafiath Rashid Mithila, and Tonima Hamid presented a powerful monologue, with a tribute to Bangabandhu, and the freedom fighters of 1971.
Noted singers Syed Abdul Hadi and Momotaz performed at the event, along with dance performances by Warda Rihab and her troupe. The event concluded with fireworks and a laser show.
