Shohoz Health: bringing healthcare online during the pandemic
The current doctor-patient ratio in Bangladesh is only 5.26 per 10,000 population, which places the country at the second position from the bottom, among the South Asian countries, according to the WHO. And to fill this gap, Shohoz introduced a technology empowered solution for the healthcare sector, "Shohoz Health", with over 150 specialised doctors and over 20 medical specialisations in the country.
Like in many countries around the world, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused an unprecedented impact on essential health services in Bangladesh, leading to a drastic reduction in utilisation of the major essential health services across all levels of health systems.
Shohoz's healthcare app allows users to access specialised doctors through video-based affordable consultation from anywhere in Bangladesh. To use this facility, users have to log in to the app and select a specialisation category from the list of doctors/consultants to book an appointment. Shohoz Health's community engagement team helps each patient to navigate and access the video consultations every step of the way. It also allows users to receive a prescription along medicine delivery from different local pharmacies, all under the Shohoz SuperApp.
