2 killed, 10 injured as two buses collide head-on in Chattogram
Two people were killed and 10 passengers injured when a BRTC bus collided head on with another bus in Chattogram this afternoon.
Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately, said police.
The injured passengers were rescued by locals and police and then taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), said Assistant Sub-inspector Shilbrota Barua of the hospital's police camp.
Four to five people among them are in critical state, he added.
Jahirul Islam, in-charge of CMCH police camp, said two passengers succumbed to their injuries around 4:30pm while undergoing treatment.
When contacted, Dulal Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Karnaphuli Police Station, said the accident happened at AJ Chowdhury College Bazar under Karnaphuli Police Station around 3:30pm when the BRTC bus, headed for Gachbaria of Chandanaish upazila, tried to avoid a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and collided head-on with another bus.
