Kabir Suman hospitalised in Kolkata
Eminent musician and political activist Kabir Suman was admitted to the SSKM Hospital in Kolkata on Monday, after complaining of breathing problems.
Soumitra Ghosh, Chief Doctor of the medicine department of the hospital, is currently treating the former Trinamool Congress MP. CT Scan, X-Ray of his chest and other requisite blood tests would be conducted on the singer soon. "He was having severe throat pain and breathing trouble for the last three days. It deteriorated last night and the singer was taken to the hospital in the morning," a senior official of the state-run hospital told Indian media.
The eminent singer has tested negative for Covid-19.
Kabir Suman is heralded as one of the pioneers of alternative Bengali music, having brought forth a new trend in his time. Some of his popular albums are "Tomake Chai" and "Boshe Anko", among others.
The renowned musician was a member of parliament of India in the 15th Lok Sabha. after being elected from the Jadavpur constituency in Kolkata from All India Trinamool Congress, where he served from 2009 to 2014.
