Vaccine from India: Supply will follow rise in production

Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud yesterday  expressed hope that India would be able to supply Covid-19 vaccines to  Bangladesh as per the agreement once the neighbouring country's  production rises. 

He said Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam  Jaishankar informed him that the vaccine production has been hampered in  India due to scarcity of foreign raw materials, but they would be able  to recover the problem in the 4th quarter of the current year  (October-December).

"Hopefully, they would be able to supply the  vaccines to Bangladesh in line with the agreement, if the vaccine  production is strengthened," said Hasan while sharing views with  journalists at his residence yesterday morning over his recent two-day  visit to India.

He described his September 7-8 visit as very  fruitful. Alongside the inauguration of Bangabandhu Center at the Press  Club of India in New Delhi, he held meetings with Indian external  affairs minister, information minister, foreign secretary, journalists  and researchers during, said a press release.

He said the  inauguration of the Bangabandhu Center is a milestone in the relations  of the two countries. A life-sized portrait of Father of the Nation  Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was installed there.
