In fond memory of Sadek Bachchu

National Award winning actor Sadek Bachchu was one of the most celebrated faces in Bangladeshi cinema. Today marks the first death anniversary of the artiste who sadly passed away at the age of 66 due to Covid-19.

Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan became nostalgic on remembering the artiste.

"He was like a guardian to me in the film industry. He always gave me the support and courage to follow my dreams. We had an unbreakable bond as we used to share everything with each other. He was my source of comfort as I could truly rely on him for everything," mentions Shakib Khan.

"Throughout my long journey as an actor, I have met countless people but only a few could hold a place in my heart. He was one of them. We had been working in this industry for 20 years and I am really fortunate that I was able to work with him in his last movie "Bir." He has made outstanding contribution in the film industry with his impeccable performances in his decade long career. He will forever live in the heart of audiences, let it be the evergreen black and white screen or the colourful world of the movie screen," the actor added.

Born as Mahbub Ahmed Sadek in Chandpur in 1955 on January 1, the actor won the National Film Award for the film, "Ekti Cinemar Golpo". A retired employee of Bangladesh Post Office, he acted in more than 500 films, over five decades.

Sadek Bacchu also worked in theatre, radio, and television. His debut television show, "Prothom Ongikar" aired in 1978, while his debut film, "Ramer Sumoti", directed by Shohidul Amin, was released in the 80s.

"Gronthik Gono Kohe", "Jonaki Jole", 'Shojon Badhiar Ghat", "Purbo Ratri Purbo Din" and "Nakshi Kanthar Math" are among his popular shows for BTV.

Known for his negative roles in films, Sadek Bacchu came into the limelight with the critically acclaimed film, "Chadni", directed by Ehtesham, back in the 90s. "Jibon Nodir Tire", "Koti Takar Kabin", "Pita Matar Amanot", "Shujon Shokhi", "Mayer Chokh", "Amar Praner Shami", "Bhalobasha Zindabaad", "Badhuboron", "Lobhe Paap Paape Mrittu" and "Mon Boshe Na Porar Table E" among others are some of his notable films.
