6 Bangladeshis evacuated from Afghanistan on their way home
Six Bangladeshi nationals, evacuated from Afghanistan, boarded a Turkish Airlines flight from Malaga Airport in Spain yesterday for Dhaka.
After being rescued by the US Army in Afghanistan, they were first taken to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on August 26 and then stationed at Spain's Rota Military Base on August 30 under the supervision of the US Army, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs press release on its verified Facebook page said today.
They sought the cooperation of the Bangladesh Embassy in Madrid to return to Bangladesh and the foreign ministry gave necessary instructions to the embassy to assist them, the post reads.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Madrid contacted the Spanish Foreign Ministry, the US Embassy and US officials at Rota Air Base from the outset to send them back to Bangladesh.
Finally, they left for Dhaka yesterday and are expected to arrive today, the foreign ministry press release said.
