The government has no plan to shut down any e-commerce company now due to irregularities by some 10 to 12 companies, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said today.

The minister said this to the journalists after a high-level meeting in presence of home, information ministers and senior officials of the government.

The minister said thousands of new e-commerce entrepreneurs have emerged in the country and the government cannot shut down those only for some errant companies.

The minister also said the government will try to streamline the e-commerce business by taking some measures like setting up central complaint management system along with forming an e-commerce authority and digital commerce act as soon as possible.
