Fishermen are busy repairing boats near Kuakata beach in Patuakhali as they prepare for going back to the sea after the end of an ongoing ban on catching fish in the rivers and the sea. The five-day-long celebrations for Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival for the Hindu community, began yesterday with the Maha Shashti. Rainwater that has collected for over three months in Khulna city’s Bastuhara Colony has turned green in colour. The authorities concerned are yet to take measures to drain out the water that has been giving off bad odour. Locals said various water-borne diseases, such as skin rashes, have been spreading among them. The photo was taken yesterday.
