4 Bangladesh youths arrested in Assam for entering India illegally
Four Bangladeshi youths were arrested yesterday in Karimganj district of Assam for entering India illegally.
Police in Karimganj arrested them last night and handed them over to the district court this afternoon.
The arrestees are: Rajesh Sheikh (29), Sanaullah Akhi (28), Kawsar Hossain (20), and Asadul Sheikh alias Saidul (29).
Mintu Sheel, in-charge of Churaibari Watch Post, told media that police conducted a search on a night coach from Agartala to Guwahati at the Tripura-Assam entrance last night.
Police arrested four Bangladeshi men at the time, he said.
During primary interrogation, they said that they entered India illegally through the Agartala border in Tripura and were going to Chennai in search of work.
They do not have any valid documents to enter India. Some Indian currency and four mobile phone sets were recovered from them. They were sent to a detention centre through the court this afternoon, he added.
