Bengal Boi is hosting a magazine fair, 'Potrika Porbo', at their premises in Dhanmondi until Saturday, December 4. Popular publications including Ikri Mikri, Jol Pore Pata Nore, Bigyan Chinta, Kishor Alo, Dhaka Comics, Unmad and Kali O Kolom have set up stalls at the venue. The products on display comprise new and old issues, books, and other merchandise. The fair starts at 4 pm on weekdays and is open all day on weekends.

Through the fair, Bengal Boi intends to encourage young readers to read magazines and promote local publications.

Known for organising literary events the year round, Bengal Boi, this winter, are focusing on promoting magazines. "Magazine reading is a lost hobby and we wish to revive this sector through our initiative. We are glad to share that readers are enjoying the fair," shared Golam Sarwar Farouqui, Operational Manager, Bengal Boi Ltd.

The fair has proven to be more popular among young readers who are enthusiastically collecting their favourite issues and coming across new comics.

The participating publications pointed that initiatives like these are helping them revive readership after the financial losses dealt by the pandemic. While the footfall has been remarkable, several stall representatives shared concerns about proper promotion of the event.

Most publications are offering lucrative discounts on their products and this presents a great opportunity for readers to collect their favourite copies. Kishor Alo and Bigyan Chinta are providing BDT 15 off on all old editions of their monthly publications. Kali o Kolom and Jol Pore Pata Nore are offering 50% off of all products.

The Durjoy series has been a popular choice among buyers at the Dhaka Comics' stall. They are currently offering 25% off on these comic books. Their book sets, 'Ek Baksho Comics', are available at 30% off their original prices. Similarly, Unmad is offering a promotional 20% off on their movie collection, mixed collection, graphic novel and popular book, Ami Unmad Na

Bengal Boi plans to organise the fair again next year, with more publishers.
