Bangladeshi national found dead near Slovenia border
A Bangladeshi immigrant has been found dead in the Dragonja Valle area near the Slovenia-Croatia border.
The deceased was identified as Sujon Miah (31) of Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria, confirmed a senior official of the Bangladesh Embassy in Vienna, yesterday.
"We came to know the matter through various local media last week that a Bangladeshi national was found dead in Slovenia's Dragonja Valle area," he said.
"We later contacted with the country's foreign ministry," said the official wishing to be anonymous.
It is primarily suspected that the Bangladeshi man likely died from hypothermia due to extremely cold weather, said the official.
The body was kept at a morgue in Piran town in south Slovenia.
"We have already contacted the victim's family. The next step will be taken subject to discussion with them," added the official.
This route is regularly used by illegal immigrants from Croatia to enter Slovenia, a Schengen country.
