Animal deaths at Gazipur safari park: Probe committee gets 3 new members
Three more members have been added to the committee investigating the deaths of animals in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur. Deadline for submitting the report has also been extended by ten days.
The committee was formed on January 26 by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in response to deaths of 11 zebras, one tiger, and one lioness.
The five-member committee, led by Additional Secretary of Ministry, Sanjay Kumar Bhowmik, was supposed to submit its report in ten days.
"We requested ten additional days from ministry, which was granted. We will be able to submit a report with more details as we'll be working with people with technical knowledge," Sanjay Kumar said.
They included three members, he told The Daily Star, one from Bangladesh Agricultural University, one from Central Disease Investigation Laboratory, and one from Gazipur district administration.
