SUST Proctor Prof Alamgir Kabir relieved from post

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Proctor Prof Md Alamgir Kabir has been relieved from his position.

A circular, signed by SUST Registrar Mohd Ishfaqul Hussain, was issued in this regard today.

Prof Alamgir was removed from his post on personal grounds, according to the circular.

Associate Professor Md Ishrat Ibne Ismail of the English Department was appointed as the new proctor, it cited.

The anti-VC movement that began after police action on students on January 16 also demanded termination of Prof Alamgir from the post.

Earlier on Sunday, Professor Zahir Uddin Ahmed, director of Students Counselling and Guidance of the university was removed from his position.
