2 DU teachers relieved of exam duties due to irregularities
Two Dhaka University teachers have been relieved for three years from all examination activities of the Persian Language and Literature department due to irregularities in semester exam results.
The teachers are Prof M Abdus Sabur and Prof Mohammad Bahauddin.
The DU authorities took the decision based on a recommendation from the disciplinary board as the allegation of irregularities brought against them were found to be true, said a press release signed by Bahalul Hoque Choudhury, exam controller of the university.
According to sources, the sixth-semester result in 2017 was published on March 15, 2017, when Pro Abdus Sabur and Prof Bahauddin were the tabulators of the department, reports our DU correspondent.
The students verbally appealed to the two professors as they were not pleased with their results. Later, from the Office of the Controller of Examinations, the revised result was published on March 29 of that year.
Being unsatisfied with the result once again, some students on May 3, 2017, appealed to the examination controller for verifying the results again.
Taking the matter into account, the exam controller initially re-examined and found the truth of the allegation.
The revised results showed that 11 students outperformed the marks obtained in 32 places in four courses of the sixth semester.
