Sandhya Mukhopadhyay, a lighthouse of Bangla music, has passed away at the age of 90. There are a few branches of Bangla music that she did not enrich with her talent.

After becoming ill on January 26th, she was admitted to hospital, where she died fighting a lung infection.

Only two days before being hospitalised, she turned down the Padma Shri award.
