New police station to have play area inside jail cell

After many debates, demonstrations and detentions, law enforcers have finally come to a solution regarding the Lebutala playground issue.

"We've realised that we just can't deprive the children of Kalabazar like this. So, we've decided to convert one of our new jail cells into a play area!" said officer-in-charge Md Khel Bona.

The protesting parents and children seemed visibly confused after the announcement.

"The children get the best of both worlds, just like Hannah Montana," said Bona. "They can play all they want, and we'll monitor their activities at all times, win-win."

Police have already sent an official letter for the project to the ministry concerned. They plan on procuring a number of toys and playground equipment, including see-saws, swings, surveillance hardware, and slides.

Total budget for the jail-cell-turned-play area will be Tk 568 crore, or as kids say, a gazillion. Costs may increase after conducting the feasibility study.

A team of officers will receive training abroad on how to play tag, musical chairs and chor police. This will require an additional Tk 419 crore.

Meanwhile, reporters grilled Bona about putting a minor behind bars for protesting. Bona replied, "You stupid journalists got it all wrong. We only took help from the minor to decide whether our play area plan will work or not. It was just roleplay."

The homecoming minister praised the initiative, saying that the idea can be implemented in police stations across the country. "I'll kiss the officer who came up with this. We want a people-friendly police force. It can't get friendlier than this."

The protesters, however, still haven't bought into the idea, but police said they will take action against those who don't play in the police station.

"Keeping our play area empty will be tantamount to obstructing police from discharging their duties of ensuring a fun time for everyone," Bona said.
