As many as 23.5 million ticket requests have been registered for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, according to FIFA.

Tickets for Argentina's group stage games -- against Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Poland -- were among the most sought-after ones as the application deadline ended on Thursday.

Interested applicants will be notified of the outcome from May 31 onwards while the unlucky ones will get another chance to secure their desired tickets on a first-come, first-served basis during the next random selection draw sales period, which will launch on FIFA.com/tickets in due time.
