The FIFA World Cup trophy is coming to Bangladesh in early June for a 36-hour tour, informed Bangladesh Football Federation's general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohagh on Monday.

The trophy will be accompanied by a delegation of the FIFA officials including former French World Cup winner Christian Karembeu, the BFF spokesperson informed.

The global tour of the coveted trophy kicked off on May 12 with a first-stop event in Dubai, where former World Cup winners Iker Casillas and Kaka came together to send the original trophy on its journey around the world.

The trophy tour by Coca-Cola will stop in 51 countries and territories, including all the 32 countries that qualified for this year's showpiece event.

"The trophy will arrive in Dhaka on June 8 and leave the following day for a 36-hour tour of Bangladesh. The trophy will be taken to the President's resident, the Bangabhaban, and the residence of the Prime Minister, the Gono Bhaban, on June 8," Shohag told media.

"There will also be an event at the Army Stadium where the trophy will be displayed to the limited members of the public. There will be a cultural programme and will be opportunities to take photos with the trophy. A FIFA legend, former French international Christian Karembeu will arrive with the trophy along with members of FIFA," Shohag informed.

The last time FIFA World Cup trophy made a stopover in Bangladesh was in 2013 ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

‘যুবকরা এখনো জানে না ভোট কী। আমাদের আওয়ামী লীগের ভাইরা ভোটটা দিয়েছেন, বলে দিয়েছেন—তোরা আসিবার দরকার নাই, মুই দিয়ে দিনু। স্লোগান ছিল—আমার ভোট আমি দিব, তোমার ভোটও আমি দিব।’
