Prerona Foundation-Bengal Meat team up to facilitate sustainable farmer livelihood
Prerona Foundation and Bengal Meat have developed a unique value chain that will allow Bengal Meat to collect high-quality cattle from Prerona Foundation's community development project farmer beneficiaries in Kushtia and Rangpur.
The aim of the new project, "Safe Protein Farming", is to facilitate the creation of additional livelihood opportunities for thousands of farmer families who are part of Prerona Foundation's community development projects in various locations across the country.
The Foundation has created a market linkage, enabling the farmers to sell the cattle reared by them to Bengal Meat.
In the long term, the project will have positive impact on the socioeconomic wellbeing of the farmer families.
Successful implementation of the project will further support in ensuring education and skills development of the farmers, enabling empowerment of the farmer families.
Additionally, the project will also ensure a supply of safe and high-quality protein for the consumers of Bengal Meat.
In this regard, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at Prerona Foundation's office.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Mubina Asaf, director of the governing body of Prerona Foundation; Md Azizur Rahman, its CEO; Mohammad A Moyeen, managing director of Bengal Meat; Mahbubul Alam, company secretary; Krishantha Wijesooriya, general manager for supply chain, and Rezaul Karim Shameem, manager for operations.
Mubina Asaf, director of the governing body of Prerona Foundation, said: "Thanks to Bengal Meat for supporting us in bringing cattle-rearing farmer families from Kushtia and Rangpur under this initiative. We look forward to expanding the footprint of this project, and helping our community development project farmer beneficiaries to attain financial and social stability through such collaboration."
"What Prerona Foundation has been doing for the marginalised communities through its various community development projects is definitely worth appreciation and our thoughts and ethos are aligned, as both the organisations are working to facilitate sustainable livelihood opportunities for the farming communities," said Mohammad A Moyeen, managing director of Bengal Meat.
