GPH Ispat plant environment friendly: CUET team
By installing modern water harvesting system through preservation of rainwater for its industrial water supply, Bangladesh's leading steel manufacturer GPH Ispat has shown its commitment to protecting the environment.
A delegation of teachers of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) opined this while visiting the plant of GPH Ispat at Kumira in Sitakunda on June 25, the company said in a press release issued today.
In a meeting with the GPH Ispat management team, the CUET faculties emphasised on conducting more awareness programmes about the latest quantum electric arc furnace technology introduced by the country's one of the leading steel manufacturers for the first time in Asia.
They hoped that CUET and GPH Ispat could initiate for conducting joint research on potential issues.
Professor Mahmud Omar Farooq Imam, Professor Swapan Kumar Palit, Professor Sudip Kumar Pal, Professor Asiful Haque, Professor Md Riaz Akter Mullick and Professor GM Sadiqul Islam of CUET spoke at the meeting.
GPH Ispat Additional Managing Director Mohammad Almas Shimul requested the delegation to promote GPH Ispat products.
He highlighted the benefits of free oxygen supply of GPH Ispat amid Covid-19, education health and housing facilities of their employees.
GPH Ispat Executive Director (Finance and Business Development) Kamrul Islam FCA, Executive Director (Trade and Sales) Shobhon Mahbub Shahabuddin Raj, Head of Operations Madduluri Srinivasa Rao, Head of Plant ASM Shumon, Adviser (logistics) Colonel Mohammed Showkat Osman (Retd.), CUET Associate Professors SM Farooq and Md Tarekul Alam, Assistant Professors Sanjay Das, Shovon Haldar, Azam Khan and Md Saiful Islam were present.
GPH Ispat engineers Delwar Hossain, Shamsuddin Ahmed and Sajjad Hossain gave multimedia presentations on different aspects of the plant, including quantum electric arc furnace, health, environment and safety on human resource development.
