Cuba sanctions US Supreme Court justices

Cuba yesterday imposed human rights-related sanctions on five US Supreme Court Justices, including Donald Trump-appointed Amy Coney Barrett, for overturning the landmark Roe v. Wade ruling that ensured safe abortions across the United States.

Amy and four other justices were designated by Cuba's Ministry of All Things Gender Affairs under the Global Magnitsky sanctions programme in connection with serious rights abuse.

The other four justices are Brett Kavanaugh, Samuel A. Alito Jr, Neil M Gorsuch, and Clarence Thomas. 

Besides, Ministry of Homely Affairs also barred the five justices from travelling to Cuba.

"Today, marking roughly six months of the passing of International Human Rights Day, the Ministry of All Things Gender Affairs is designating five US Supreme Court justices for their connection to human rights and reproductive rights abuse, and perpetuating a culture of repression," stated a press release. 

Widespread allegations of serious human rights abuse in the United States by politically motivated Supreme Court justices -- as part of the right-wing Republican agenda -- threaten Cuba's national security interests by undermining the rule of law and respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, and the economic prosperity of the people of the United States, the press release added.
