Afif determined to seize the day
Bangladesh batter Afif Hossain Dhrubo said he has no desire to look beyond the present as the Tigers began their first practice session in Zimbabwe on Thursday.
"I never think too much about what lies ahead. I just try to do well in the present and give my hundred per cent," Afif told reporters as Bangladesh prepare for the first T20I of the three-match series against the hosts, scheduled to take place on Saturday at the Harare Sports Club ground.
Afif is one of the players on whom Bangladesh would be relying on to establish a seemingly paradoxical 'fearless' yet 'calculative' brand of cricket under new captain Nurul Hasan Sohan.
Asked how the junior players would go about their business in absence of senior players -- the likes of Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim -- Afif reiterated that he is only willing to focus on his own game with the team objective of winning the series.
"Like I said, I always try to stay in the present. At the end of the day, I hope I'll be able to say that I gave my best."
