I only ever wanted to be an actor: Fazlur Rahman Babu
Fazlur Rahman Babu, the five-time National Film Award winner, is a talented actor who has work in television dramas, OTT and films. The actor constantly presents himself to the audience in a new light, through his new characters.
This Monday marked the actor's birthday, and The Daily Star spoke to Fazlur Rahman Babu to discuss his success, future plans, and various other issues.
The love of the people, money, fame; you've received all of it. How does it feel to be loved by fans and audiences?
I've always wanted to be an actor. People want to be a lot of things in life, but I only ever wanted to be an actor. From when I was in school, this dream of becoming an actor came to me, and since then, I walked down this path.
The love I have received from the people, after I became an actor, cannot be matched by anything else. Now that I realise that the people love me so much, what else can I even ask for?
What struggles came along with the dream of becoming an actor?
There were a lot of struggles on the way to becoming an actor. Long ago, I came to Dhaka as a banker, and joined Aranyak Natyadal. Almost daily, I would finish work till evening, and then I'd go join the drama team in the evening.
I was incredibly fortunate to have a guru like Mamunur Rashid, who taught me a lot about acting.
When looking back at the past, what are your thoughts about your journey?
One should never forget the past. Always remember the past and continue to go forward. Life is really beautiful, and one has the duty to make it even more beautiful. There will be happiness, sorrow, joy and pain, and we all have to learn to live life through it. In the same way that too much sadness is not good, too much happiness isn't either.
How did your birthday go?
On my birthday, I was busy shooting for my upcoming projects, all day. I am shooting for a film called "Jamdani" in Gazipur. I have been talking to a lot of people all day.
Acting is my profession, addiction and pursuit. That's why I enjoy shooting, even on my birthday. However, I also missed the presence of my family members.
