Apple announces the iPhone 14
Apple has just unveiled the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, keeping a lot of the iPhone 13's design.
The iPhone 14 maintains a 6.1-inch screen, while the 14 Plus offers a sizable 6.7-inch screen. The 14 Plus model is said to have the longest battery life of any iPhone.
The A15 Bionic chipset from the previous year is still available in both models, featuring 5-core GPU, 6-core CPU, 16-core neural engine.
The 12 MP main camera of the iPhone 14 comes with faster aperture for better motion freezing.
The camera also features a new f.1.9, 12 MP TrueDepth camera with autofocus for the first time. This caters to taking better photos in low light environment, using a new photonic engine that doubles low light camera performance than previous iPhone models.
The new release of iPhones also come with larger sensors and advanced lenses for better camera performance. The iPhone 14 models also come with other features such as video stabilisation, eSIM support and crash detection, including a high acceleration sensor that can automatically contact emergency SOS in case an emergency or crash occurs.
The iPhone 14 is also designed to work off-grid, with a built-in SOS that uses satellite to contact emergency services.
The iPhone 14 starts at $799, and iPhone 14 Plus starts at $899.
Pre-orders starts September 9, with iPhone 14 being available from September 14 and iPhone 14 Plus from October 7.
iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max
Alongside the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, Apple also announced iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max run on the all-new A16 bionic chip, Apple's latest 4 nanometer processor with 16 billion transistors.
These models come with the brand new Dynamic Island feature, an assistant-like widget that is always active on the upper middle side of the screen. This interactive feature changes based on what app or device is being used in the phone, and gives unique alerts and notifications.
Pro models also come with lock screen personalisation and always-on HDR display. The intelligent display also automatically dims the brightness and use minimal power when required.
The camera has seen a major improvement in the iPhone 14 Pro models as well, with 48 MP main camera with better resolution and pro-filmmaking support with 48 MP raw photos, Dolby Vision technology and four zoom options.
The flash has improved as well, being twice as bright as previous generations. Offering higher resolution photos with better low environment clarity, iPhone 14 Pro camera is deemed as the most powerful iPhone camera yet.
iPhone 14 Pro is available for $999 and iPhone 14 Pro Max for $1099.
Pre-orders start September 9, with the products being officially available from September 16.
