Female BCL leader allegedly tortured Eden College student

A Chhatra League (BCL) leader of Eden Mohila College allegedly tortured a student yesterday (September 19, 2022).

A complaint letter has been submitted to the hostel authority in this regard, said the victim today.

According to the victim, BCL leader Aisha Islam Mim, vice-president of Eden Mohila College unit of BCL, went to the victim's room at Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hostel yesterday along with a group of students following an argument.

At one point, the BCL leader poured a cup of tea on the victim's body and twisted her arms.

Earlier, the victim protested an irregularity in the hostel hallway and called Aisha "an illegal student" during an argument since her studentship had expired.

However, denying the allegation, Aisha Islam Mim told The Daily Star, "I did not go to the victim's room. Some female students went to her room over an internal argument among themselves. I was not involved in the matter."

"We are investigating the allegation after receiving a complaint from a student. We questioned both the victim and the accused. If any proof is found to the matter, we will take measures as per the rules," said Nazneen Nahar, superintendent of  Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hostel.
