Many international flights were delayed for several hours this evening (September 22, 2022) at the Hazrat Shahjalal Internaitonal Airport apparently due to a technical glitch in the servers of the immigration system.

Several passengers told The Daily Star that flights of different airlines bound for various destinations were delayed for one hour to two hours as the immigration servers were slow.

"My Qatar Airlines flight was scheduled to depart from the airport at 7:35pm. Now it's 8:45pm and the flight is yet to depart," a passenger, Mohammad Sumon, told The Daily Star.

He also said since the servers were down of immigration system, immigration officials were working manually, which was taking time and causing delays in the immigration process.

Group Captain Kamrul Islam, executive director at HSIA, was not available over his mobile phone to comment on this issue.

A top official of immigration police told The Daily Star that flights were not affected much due to the server down.

"We are working to fix the problem," he said, wishing anonymity.
