Comilla University dorms closed, exams postponed after BCL committee dissolution
Comilla University authorities today (October 2, 2022) announced closure of all halls of the university as a tense situation was prevailing on the campus following the dissolution of the Chhatra League committee (university unit).
The university also postponed all kinds of examination from October 10 to 17, said a press release signed by Amirul Haque Chowdhury, registrar (acting) of the university today, reports our Cumilla correspondent.
The halls of the university will remain closed until further notice and students have been asked to leave the halls by 6pm today (October 2), the release added.
The female students have been instructed to leave their halls by 9am tomorrow (October 3).
All types of transport, except the university's own transport and the vehicles for carrying the university's teachers, officers and employees, will not be allowed to enter the university campus, the release read.
Talking to reporters, CoU Registrar (Acting) Amirul Haque Chowdhury said that classes will continue even though the examinations will be postponed from October 10 to 17. The date of opening residential halls will be notified later.
Yesterday, a faction (Reza-e-Elahi) of Comilla University BCL rode motorcycles and exploded fireworks after BCL central committee dissolved its Comilla University unit committee.
The leaders and activists of the newly outgoing committee (Ilias-Majed) openly held a showdown brandishing arms.
