“20-25% electricity restored after 4hrs of outage”

About 20-25 percent electricity was restored after four hours of power outage, said a spokesperson of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh.

ABM Badruddoza Khan, PGCB's Deputy Manager (Company Secretary), told The Daily Star that the whole eastern part of the country including Dhaka, Mymensingh, Cumilla, Sylhet and Chattogram has been experiencing a blackout since 2:05pm.

Asked about the reason behind the power cut, he said, "Our main focus is restoration. The reason must be technical and is yet to be identified."

Some areas of Dhaka have started restoring electricity in the meantime, he added.
