Mahfuz Ahmed, an icon of the 90’s, celebrates his birthday today
Noted actor Mahfuz Ahmed ruled over the 90s with his memorable performances on television. His passion was journalism, but his heart lay in acting. He started off his career with a minor role in BTV's popular series "Kon Kanoner Phool", and then quickly skyrocketed towards fame with his appearance in Humayun Ahmed's "Kothao Keu Nei".
Mahfuz Ahmed won the National Award for Best Actor twice for his stellar performances in "Laal Sobuj" and "Zero Degree". Today marks the birthday of TV's most iconic leading man, who has been delivering astounding performances for more than two decades.
The actor loves challenges, especially versatile characters which give him space to experiment as an artiste. His eponymous role as "Nurul Huda" brought him immense fame and stardom, which paved way for multiple sequels of the series including "Nurul Huda Ekoda Valobeshechilo", "Amader Nurul Huda", and "Otopor Nurul Huda."
He has earned massive accolades for directing and acting in the titular TV series "Choita Pagol". Critics were left impressed by his vivid expressions and chemistry alongside Jaya Ahsan in the series. The actor then went on to direct another critically acclaimed series "Tomar Dowa Bhalo Achi Maa" starring Mosarraf Karim and Chanchal Chowdhury in pivotal roles.
The actor also stemmed his popularity in films by acting in Humayun Ahmed's movies "Srabon Megher Din" and "Dui Duari". However, his electrifying performance in Tauquir Ahmed's "Joyjatra" was the biggest highlight of his career. The actor then went on to work in notable movies including "Laal Sobuj", "Megher Por Megh", "Zero Degree", among others.
Although he has been acting for more than two decades, he has been away from the limelight for quite some time. Mahfuz Ahmed will be returning to the silver screen with Chayanika Chowdhury's "Prohelika".
When asked about what is his biggest achievement as an artiste, he replied, "The love of people is the most valuable gift to me. There is nothing greater than being afforded a place in the hearts of your fans," said Mahfuz.
The actor tends to get emotional on his birthday.
"Whenever this time of the year comes around, people start to shower me with best wishes and love on my special day. I am overwhelmed by the love of countless people, and I am truly grateful to them," added the actor.
