The footballers' inclusion in MW2 was previously mentioned by leakers as a promotion for the World Cup, which starts in a few weeks. Another leak showed how they would appear in-game, proving that they would do so.

The footballers may either show up as playable operators or as skins for already-existing operators in the game. They might also be strictly appearing in some sort of time-limited mode, as other leakers have suggested in the past.
