Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale dies
Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale passed away at a hospital in Pune today afternoon. He was 77 years old. He was under treatment at the hospital for several days, due to failure of multiple organs. The actor had been hospitalised for several days, and as soon as his health deteriorated, he was put on ventilation.
His last rites will be performed this evening in Pune, informed his family friend to several media outlets.
A few days ago, his death rumour was circulated in the social media. However, his family refuted the rumour.
During his career of four decades, he appeared in numerous films like—"Agneepath", "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam", "Bhool Bhulaiya", and "Hichki" among many others. He made his Bollywood debut at the age of 26 with the film "Parwana" in 1971, sharing the screen Amitabh Bachchan.
He was a known face on the screen and stage. Vikam Gokhale was a celebrated actor in Marathi theatre and cinema.
He was honoured with the National Award for Best Actor for his work in the Marathi film "Anumati", in 2010. He made his directorial debut with the Marathi film "Aaghaat".
The actor was last seen in "Nikamma" where he shared the screen with Shilpa Shetty and Abhimanyu Dassani, which was released in June.
