No photo with Ronaldo needed, says Benzema
Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema when asked about his relationship with former Real teammate Cristiano Ronaldo said that their friendship goes beyond posting pictures on social media outlets.
The reigning Ballon d'Or winner spoke to the media ahead of their Super Copa final against arch-rivals Barcelona on Monday at the King Fahad International Stadium in Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo, who recently joined Saudi club Al Nassr, visited the Real Madrid training camp in Riyadh on Friday and posed for pictures with several of his former teammates.
But questions were asked to Benzema on why he did not take a snap with the Portuguese forward considering all the success they had achieved together for the Los Blancos.
The Frenchman later revealed that he didn't actually get to meet his former teammate but hoped to speak to Ronaldo on the day of the final.
"I think Cristiano Ronaldo is happy here, I hope he can keep scoring goals and being decisive," Benzema stated.
"He was at our training session, but we didn't need a photo to show we're friends. We don't need that for Instagram and Twitter and all that.
"Even though he was there, I didn't have time to say hello to him. Hopefully, I can see him tomorrow at the final and speak to him."
When he was asked about the Supercopa de Espana final, Benzema spoke of how important another title would be to him.
"At Real Madrid, we always have to win," he said.
"We know it'll be difficult, but we have to have the mentality that we can win this match," he added.
