Comilla inflict first defeat on Sylhet
Liton Das played a blazing knock of 72 off 40 deliveries as Comilla Victorians inflicted the first defeat of the BPL season on leaders Sylhet Strikers with a five-wicket victory at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Bangladesh opener smashed seven fours and four sixes as Comilla, the defending champions, chased down the 135-run target with five wickets in hand and an over to spare. The second highest of the innings came from Johnson Charles (18 not out) and skipper Imrul Kayes (18).
Sylhet skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza took two wickets for 19 runs.
Earlier, Sylhet, on the back of five straight wins, could only manage 133 runs for seven wickets after being asked to bat first. Imad Wasim (40 not out off 33 deliveries) and Thisara Perera (43 not out off 31 deliveries) helped them to the total after they had lost first seven wickets for 53 runs.
Sylhet are still on top of the table with 10 points from six matches while Comilla moved to fourth position with four points from five matches.
