Tamim first to 7k club in T20s for Bangladesh
Tamim Iqbal became the first Bangladesh batter to score 7,000 runs in T20 cricket as the Khulna Tigers opener reached the landmark during his 37-ball 44 run-knock against Chattogram Challengers in the Bangladesh Premier League at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Friday.
The left-hander was five runs shy of the milestone before the match and achieved the feat with a boundary entering the elite club as the first Bangladesh batter.
Taking 242 innings to get there, the 33-year-old became the 40th player overall to score 7,000 T20 runs, also becoming the eighth quickest batter to reach the milestone. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam tops that chart having achieved the feat in 187 innings.
In T20s, Tamim has 45 fifties and four hundreds to his name so far with a highest-score of 141 runs which he scored in the final of the 2019 BPL for Comilla Victorians.
He is the only Bangladesh batter to score four centuries in this format with Najmul Hossain Shanto in second with two.
