The Hori river is reduced to a ditch due to encroachment and uncontrolled siltation. Locals say the river remains almost in a similar state even in monsoon and local farmers can no longer rely on it for irrigation. The photo was taken in the Sholgatia area of Dumuria upazila, Khulna, last week.
