Why SRK won’t be watching ‘DDLJ’
It has been almost three decades since Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol captivated our hearts with the on-screen love of Raj and Simran. "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" (DDLJ) skyrocketed Shah Rukh to stardom, making him the industry's top 'romantic hero'.
This reputation would eventually land the actor roles in movies like "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai", "Veer Zaara," and "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham," among others.
In preparation for this year's Valentine's Day, Yash Raj Films (YRF) has decided to re-release "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" for Valentine's week. However, SRK is hesitant about watching the film once again, as he feels that 'Raj is destroying him'.
Arre yaar itni mushkil se action hero bana….and you guys are bringing back Raj…uff!! This competition is killing me!!!! I am going to see #Pathaan …Raj toh ghar ka hai. https://t.co/ImGLi1nC2m

Taking to Twitter, SRK wrote that he would much rather watch "Pathaan" over "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge"—because he found it more difficult to become an action hero in the 2023 film.
A tweet from YRF's official Twitter handle announced the re-release as follows: "Blockbusters from two eras - #DDLJ and #Pathaan - are now available! This Valentine's Day, catch the grandeur in a theater near you!"
In response, Shah Rukh retweeted the YRF post and wrote, "I became an action hero after overcoming many obstacles....and you're bringing Raj back.. uff!! This competition is destroying me!!! I'm off to see Pathaan."
"Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" is India's longest-running film. Since its initial release in 1995, the film has been shown at Mumbai's Maratha Mandir cinema hall. Aditya Chopra directed the film, which starred Amrish Puri, Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal, and Mandira Bedi.
According to a press release, "DDLJ" will be re-released in 37 major cities, including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Faridabad, Lucknow, Dehradun, Chandigarh, Guwahati, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Indore, Vellore, and Trivandrum. According to the statement, the February 10 release is a Valentine's Day special for fans of the romantic film.
Meanwhile, "Pathaan", which opened in theaters on January 25, has surpassed the Rs 900-crore mark in gross worldwide collections. In India, the film grossed Rs 558 crores. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone in lead roles.
