3 DU students suspended for indiscipline
Dhaka University authorities have suspended three students for their alleged involvement in tarnishing the university's image by acts of indiscipline and misconduct.
DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman approved the suspension today, according to a press release.
The students were also asked to show cause in seven days as to why they should not be expelled permanently from the university, added the release.
The three are Fazle Naveed Anana of theatre and performance studies department, Rahat Rahman of management information systems, and Sadiq Ahammad of Institute of Social Welfare and Research. All they were former activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League.
On February 12, BCL expelled the three for their involvement in mugging.
On February 5, a team of Shabagh Police Station arrested them from near Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology for allegedly stanching money from a covered van driver.
They were sent to jail by a court after a case was filed against them over the incident the same day.
