A Bangladesh women's team cricketer, who is currently playing in the ongoing ICC Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa, was reportedly approached by another cricketer from outside the women's team for fixing, according to reports.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director and women's wing chairman Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel confirmed that the board is aware of the incident.

"Our cricketer from the World Cup squad, who has been approached [for fixing], has immediately reported it to the ICC's Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU). Now, the rest will be dealt with by the ACU. We do not have jurisdiction over these matters as it will be looked into by ACU. But, yes, we are aware of it," Nadel told The Daily Star.

According to a report by Jamuna TV, a woman cricketer from outside the national team made an objectionable proposal to a member of the World Cup squad. That cricketer did not agree. The report also included audio of the conversation between the two cricketers.

Cricketers are obligated to immediately report to ICC if any ill approaches are made. Concealing such information could lead to the cricketer being penalised. Bangladesh T20I and Test skipper Shakib Al Hasan was banned from all forms of cricket for two years, with one year of that suspended, after he accepted three charges of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code in 2019.
