The opening 12 minutes of Pixar's "Up" will leave you in tears with hardly a word spoken, despite the fact that the entire movie is one of the studio's most joyful ones. We follow the journey of Carl, a retired elderly man and Russel, a boy scout. The movie starts off as a typical fun ride. As the movie progresses, we see the bond between the two characters develop and see into Carl's past which really hits right in the feels.

It's difficult to judge whether Robin Williams' John Keating makes a decent English instructor. When he is hired at a traditional Vermont prep school, he thrives at stirring the pot and perhaps inspiring his uptight peers to think creatively. Some people do, and it's a magnificent unfolding. Tragically, some people fail to do so. By the end of the movie, we're still not sure if the young guys genuinely understand how to construct a phrase, but the lessons they acquire are invaluable and will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

In this film, Clementine (Kate Winslet) and Joel (Jim Carrey) experience a breakup so painful that she has a procedure done that removes him from her past, present, and future. We've all experienced moments we wish we could choose to selectively erase from our memory. However, after going through the same process, Joel comes to the conclusion that sometimes it's better to have both memories and that erasing the terrible ones is not worth erasing the nice ones as well.

Boy meets girl, they fall in love, they plan their lives out, and then the ship hits the iceberg. Although we are all aware of the story, our hearts continue to yearn for a union as tragic as the "Titanic's" inaugural voyage. As the young lovers from different sides of the tracks who would have succeeded in America, if the ship hadn't sunk, taking their dreams down with it.

Schindler's List

Do you want sadness turned up to 11? Do you want to create a small flood with your tears? If so, then this movie is for you. Directed by Steven Spielberg, "Schindler's List" is a representation of the Holocaust and one man's endeavor to save as many Jews as he could. It's difficult to see because Spielberg doesn't hold back on the explicit material, the bloodshed, or the system's overall savagery, which gave rise to concentration camps and resulted in the deaths of six million European Jews and five million captives.
