Torture at IU: Sanjida among 5 BCL activists asked to leave hall
Deshratna Sheikh Hasina Hall authorities at Islamic University in Kushtia today asked five BCL activists, who have been accused of torturing Phulpori Khatun, to leave the dormitory by March 1 after cancelling their seats.
The university unit BCL vice-president Sanjida Chowdhury, a student of statistics department, was among the five, reports our Kushtia correspondent.
The decision was taken at a meeting attended by Provost Prof Shamsul Haque, said a notification issued by the hall authorities this afternoon.
The action was taken against them as the probe committee formed by the hall administration found the allegations against them true, said the notification.
The other expelled students are Halima Akhtar Urmi of fine arts, Israt Jahan Mim of law, and Tabassum Islam and Mabia Jahan of finance and banking.
On February 14, Phulpori, a first-year non-residential student, alleged that BCL activists Sanjida Chowdhury and Tabassum Islam, tortured her on the night of February 12 for staying at the hall without their "permission".
