Bhuban Badyakar went viral in Bangladesh and India when he released his catchy song, "Kacha Badam". For a while, the lyrics to his song was in everyone's mouth, as the larger public enjoyed how 'memeable' the song was.

Over one year after the song was released in February 2022, "Kacha Badam" has garnered over 400 million views on YouTube. Now, the same Bhuban is struggling with life. Due to a copyright-related issue, Bhuban has now claimed that he cannot even sing his own song.

Hailing from the Birbhum district in West Bengal, Bhuban Badyakar would sing while selling nuts. When "Kacha Badam" went viral, this ordinary nut seller would become a millionaire. He even built himself a two-story house. However, all of a sudden, Bhuban was missing and could not be found anywhere.

Recently, while speaking to the Indian media, Bhuban broke down while sharing that someone had stolen the copyright to "Kacha Badam" by deceiving him. He can no longer even pronounce the word 'badam' after falling into this copyright trap.

Speaking to TV9 Bangla, Bhuban alleged, "When I am singing, they apply a copyright the moment I say the word 'badam' and remove the song. This happens wherever I try to sing the song. A conspiracy has been hatched against me."

The artiste further alleged that a Birbhum-based company and its owner had taken the song from him by pretending to be from the Indian Performing Right Society Limited (IPRS). "I am not educated and I don't even know how to read English. Now, they are telling me that they bought my song. I cannot even reach them over the phone now," shared a heartbroken Bhuban.

As another person has bought the copyright to "Kacha Badam" without Bhuban's knowledge, he is no longer able to make money from or perform his song. So, he has stopped singing "Kacha Badam". The artiste is also disheartened that his name is being defamed as a result of this issue. With hopes of resolving the problem, Bhuban has filed a case against the individuals who have stolen the copyright to his song.
