According to locals, the explosion, which took place around 4:30pm, was felt in surrounding areas over at least two sqkm.

ONLY SOURCE OF INCOME

Probesh Lal, a compressor operator of the Seema oxygen plant, was from Bhatiari union of Sitakunda upazia.

According to doctors, he suffered a head injury and underwent a surgery at the hospital.

Earlier, his wife Seema Sharma told this correspondent in front of the ICU, "My husband's health condition is not good. I have no idea what will happen now. He is the only source of income; my daughter is in sixth grade and my son is an HSC student."

Probesh's brother Nayan Sharma claimed that despite working for Seema Oxygen Plant for 20 years, no one from the company visited his brother in CMCH.

"The factory has not offered us any assistance. We received Tk 7,500 from the district administration yesterday evening, but we have already spent more than Tk 50,000 on medicine and other necessities."
