Biman plane with burst tyre makes emergency landing at Dhaka airport
A Biman Bangladesh Airlines plane made an emergency landing today at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after one of its tyres burst during take-off from Kolkata.
With 72 passengers on board, the Dash-8 aircraft landed safely around 10:03am, Group Captain Kamrul Islam, executive director at HSIA, told The Daily Star.
Sources at the HSIA said the flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, BG-392 took off for Dhaka from the Kolkata airport around 8:49am local time.
The pilot informed the control tower at the HSIA for taking preparation for emergency landing as landing tyre of the aircraft burst.
During the take-off at Kolkata, the aircraft had a tyre burst, Kamrul Islam said.
The flight was operated by a Dash 8-400 model aircraft manufactured in Canada.
"We had taken necessary preparations at the airport for emergency landing of the aircraft. Later it landed safely without any harm to the passengers," Kamrul further said.
Yesterday, a calibration flight from Barishal to Dhaka made an emergency landing in the capital after a tyre burst.
