Institute of Research, Innovation, Incubation and Commercialization (IRIIC) inaugurated at UIU
The inauguration of the Institute of Research, Innovation, Incubation and Commercialization (IRIIC), United International University (UIU) was held on February 28 at the UIU Campus with the aim of building a smart Bangladesh through enthusiasm of innovative research to commercialisation and creating entrepreneurship.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, MP was present as the Chief Guest. Md. Jashim Uddin, President, FBCCI, Faruque Hassan, President, BGMEA, Mohammad Hatem, Executive President, BKMEA, and Moinuddin Hasan Rashid, Chairman & MD, United Group were present as the Special Guests.
The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Dr M. Rezwan Khan, Executive Director, Institute for Advanced Research & Professor Emeritus, UIU. Prof. Dr Khondaker Abdullah Al Mamun, Director, IRIIC was present as a keynote speaker. Prof. Dr Md. Abul Kashem Mia, VC (In-Charge) of UIU presided over the inaugural ceremony. He also gave the closing speech of the ceremony.
Dr Dipu Moni said that, the establishment of the Institute of Research, Innovation, Incubation and Commercialization is a timely decision, because in the era of fourth industrial revolution, industry and academia will play an important role in research collaboration, startup ecosystem and building innovative nation by establishing active linkage between academia, industry and government using technology. She also said that the students of the institute which was inaugurated will take the lead in building a technology-based country in the future. Over the past few years, Prof. Mamun's AIMS Lab projects have contributed to transform Bangladesh's health sector into a digital transformation, and the first Brain Computer Interface (BCI) research lab developed by him undoubtedly deserves praise. IRIIC is a unique step towards building a smart Bangladesh we dream of in 2041. We will continue to receive all kinds of support and cooperation from the government.
Prof. Mamun is working to build a smart Bangladesh by establishing active links between academia, industry and government. He has brought AIIMS Lab, BCI Research Lab, Center for Digital Health Innovation and Policy Research and Industry and Academia Collaboration Center for 4IR under one roof. In its continuation, UIU has taken initiative to establish the IRIIC. There will be research, innovation, incubation and commercialization culture in Bangladesh using 4IR technology.
Faculty members, officials, academicians, government officials, industry officials, researchers, and other distinguished guests from various universities and institutions in Bangladesh were present in the inaugural ceremony.
