Dhaka, Ctg bourses rise for second day
The key indices of the Dhaka and Chattogram bourses rose today, stretching the gains to the second consecutive day.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), added 9 points or 0.14 per cent to close at 6,259.
The DS30, the blue-chip index, remained almost flat to end the day at 2,225 while the DSES, the shariah-compliant index, also ended flat before ending the day at 1,361.
Turnover, a key indicator of the market, rose to 9.8 per cent to Tk 727 crore from previous day.
Of the securities, 100 advanced, 65 declined and 178 did not show any price movement.
Dominage Steel Building Systems made the highest gain with an increase of 9.8 per cent.
National Feed Mill, City General Insurance, Legacy Footwear, and Padma Islami Life Insurance were among the top gainers.
Zeal Bangla Sugar Mills was the highest loser, shedding 9.3 per cent.
Meghna Pet Industries, Meghna Condensed Milk Industries, Union Capital, and Beacon Pharmaceuticals were also in the list of the significant losers.
Genex Infosys was the most-traded stock with its issues worth Tk 42 crore transacting.
Sea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, Shinepukur Ceramics, and ADN Telecom also registered significant turnover.
The Caspi, the all-share price index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange, rose 27 points, or 0.15 per cent, to close at 18,430.
Of the issues, 63 rose, 28 retreated and 84 did not see any price swing.
However, the turnover edged down 0.84 per cent to Tk 16.47 crore.
